How It Works
Every time you tap, the tool records a high-resolution timestamp using the browser's performance clock. It then measures the intervals between consecutive taps, averages those intervals, and divides 60,000 milliseconds (one minute in ms) by the result. The math is simple: if your average interval is 500ms, the BPM is 60,000 / 500 = 120 BPM.
Why Rolling Averages?
A naive tap tempo tool that just measures the gap between your last two taps will jump around as you tap inconsistently. By keeping the last 8 taps and averaging the 7 intervals between them, this tool smooths out the noise and converges on the true tempo.
