MMR Progression Calculator
Project rank-up time from MMR gap, win rate, and games per day.
Quick Answer
Net MMR per game = (win rate × MMR per win) − ((1 − win rate) × MMR per loss). At 55% win rate with 20 MMR per win/loss, you net 4 MMR per game. To climb 500 MMR (about one full tier in most games), you need ~125 games — about 4 weeks at 4 games per day.

About the MMR Progression Calculator
Most ranked games hide MMR (matchmaking rating) and show only a visible rank tier. But underneath, the math is straightforward: every win adds points, every loss subtracts points, and you climb by maintaining a win rate above 50%. This calculator projects how long the climb to your target rank will take given your current performance.
Win Rate Is Everything
If your win rate is exactly 50%, you stay at your current MMR forever. The mathematical truth of ranked games is that the matchmaker pulls everyone toward 50% by adjusting opponent difficulty. Climbing requires sustained 55%+ win rates over hundreds of games — a real signal that you're above your current rank.
Why Smurfs Climb So Fast
Brand new accounts have wide MMR uncertainty. The system gives them 30-50 MMR per win to find their true level fast. Smurfs (skilled players on new accounts) win 80%+ of placements and ride huge MMR gains to mid-Diamond in 30-50 games. After the system stabilizes, normal gains kick in.
Diminishing Returns at Top Tiers
Above Diamond/Immortal/Champion in most games, MMR gains shrink. The system is more confident about your skill, opponents are tighter to your level, and the win rate required to keep climbing approaches 60%+. Reaching the top 0.1% takes thousands of games at near-pro consistency.
Decay and Inactivity
Most games punish inactivity at high ranks. League decays Master+, Valorant decays Immortal+, CS2 decays Premier 17,000+. Decay typically removes 20-50 LP/MMR per inactive period (week or two). Plan to play 1-2 ranked games per week minimum to maintain rank.

Improving Win Rate
The fastest win rate boost comes from VOD review (watch your own games), narrowing your champion/agent pool to 2-3 mains, playing during off-peak hours when smurfs are less common, and avoiding tilt-queueing after losses. Most ranked guides recommend a hard stop after 2 consecutive losses to prevent tilt spirals.
