About This Tool

The Baby Shoe Size Calculator converts your baby's foot measurement into US, EU, and UK shoe sizes instantly. It includes an age reference so you can also estimate sizes when buying gifts or shopping without baby present.

How to Measure Baby Feet

Stand your baby on a piece of paper (weight-bearing gives the most accurate measurement). Trace around the foot or mark the heel and longest toe. Measure the distance in centimeters. Do both feet — use the larger measurement.

Growing Room

Add 1-1.5 cm to the foot measurement for growing room. Baby feet grow quickly — about one full size every 2-3 months in the first year, then one size every 3-4 months. Check fit regularly and replace shoes before they're outgrown.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I measure my baby's foot?
Place your baby's foot on a piece of paper with their heel against a wall. Mark the tip of the longest toe. Measure from the wall to the mark. Measure both feet — they may be different sizes. Use the larger measurement and add 1-1.5 cm for growing room.
How often should I check my baby's shoe size?
Every 2-3 months for babies under 2 years, and every 3-4 months for toddlers. Baby feet grow rapidly — up to a full size every 2-3 months. Shoes that are too small can cause discomfort and affect developing feet.
Should baby shoes be tight or loose?
Baby shoes should have about a thumb's width (1-1.5 cm) of space between the longest toe and the shoe tip. The heel should be snug but not tight. Shoes that are too loose can cause tripping, and shoes that are too tight restrict growth.
Do babies need shoes before walking?
Pre-walking babies don't need shoes — socks, soft-soled booties, or bare feet are best for foot development. Once walking outdoors, choose flexible, lightweight shoes with thin soles that let feet grip and feel the ground.
Why are US, EU, and UK sizes different?
Each system uses a different starting point and increment. US infant sizes start at 0 and increase by 1/3 inch per half size. EU sizes use the Paris point (2/3 cm per size). UK sizes are similar to US but offset by about 0.5-1 size smaller.
